HP Offline Bundles April 2013 Updates

HP has recently released updated Offline Bundles that are available in the directory http://vibsdepot.hp.com/hpq/apr2013/. Unlike the other release directories (feb2013 was the latest up to now) it is not (yet) properly set up as an Online Depot, so you can not add it as a download source to Update Manager.

As of now it only includes two Offline bundle files (hp-esxi5.0uX-bundle-1.4.5-3.zip and hp-ams-esxi5.0-bundle-9.3.5-3.zip). If you want to apply them to a running system then either

• download them and manually import them into Update Manager, or
• install them in an ESXi shell with esxcli software vib install -d /path/to/zipfile

(You typically install only one of these. The first one includes the full CIM providers that can be used with any ProLiant generation. The ams bundle includes only a limited set of CIM providers and is meant only for Gen8 servers that you can monitor via their new Agentless Monitoring Service feature through the iLO 4 board.)

These updates are supposed to fix an issue of the feb2013 Bundles that several customers have reported: a false alarm being triggered in the hardware status of some SmartArray controller models. I have not yet seen confirmed that this is really fixed with these new bundles (and I cannot test this myself). Please comment on this post if you can confirm or negate this!
